Today we are taking a day off running.
I feel like I’ve prepared the best I can. I’ve run more, and more consistently than I ever have, and the past week I’ve dedicated to easy miles and acclimatizing to the altitude. In the past 9 weeks I’ve done 4 over 100km. Of course since my weeks are a bit different I really appreciate RunningAhead’s “Streak” data – This is good for me since my ‘week’ is not always Monday to Sunday.
We’ve been pretty good at using up our time today – laundry was a big activity, as well as picking up our race package. We also used the time to mail some postcards, and generally chillax.
I’ve decided after my previous camping race to package each day’s stuff in individual ziploc bags.
At the package pickup we get a large duffel bag for all of our stuff for the week. Tomorrow morning we will dress in our race gear, and pack all of our other stuff in the duffel. The Transrockies crew will come by the hotel and pick up the bags as well as our ‘checked’ bags which we will see again at the end of the race. Each day when we finish the stage our duffel will be waiting for us in our tent at the “tent-city”. Everything seems really well organized, tonight we have a briefing at 6pm, then we’ll eat dinner and head to bed.
Until then there’s nothing else to do but wait…
